Domain Activation and Propagation Explained

Domain activation is often referred to as propagation.

Once your domain registration has been accepted, your domain will be assigned Nameservers that point to your hosting account. It can take up to 72 hours for these changes to fully take effect, though it usually happens much faster.

Nameserver Changes and Propagation:

  • Nameserver changes typically take 24 to 72 hours to start working globally.
  • During this period, not all visitors will immediately follow your new nameservers to your hosting account.
  • Some visitors might still see your old hosting account because their local internet service providers (ISPs) haven’t updated their DNS records yet.

Factors Affecting Propagation Speed:

The speed of DNS propagation depends on several factors, including:

  • Your ISP’s DNS caching policies
  • Geographical location of visitors
  • TTL (Time-To-Live) settings on your DNS records

Unfortunately, none of these factors are within VDDigi’s control.

Once propagation is complete, your website will consistently appear on our servers, and your email services will become fully functional.

This process requires some patience, but rest assured: Once propagation concludes, everything will be up and running.
